· Client sample: soil.
· Client requirement: a university commissioned WEIPU to investigate microplastics in soil.
· WEIPU solution: microplastics were enriched using density separation, digestion and other pretreatment methods. Flake-like and fibrous particles were observed; micro-FTIR analysis identified the fibrous microplastic as PET.
· Result: the microplastics in soil were characterized by particle size and qualitatively identified using the above methods.
